Hi, I’m Susannah.
I’m a physiotherapist in pelvic health with a mind/body/trauma informed practice. I welcome people of all genders and have a passion for supporting people with painful sex, endometriosis, pregnancy, perimenopause/menopause and gender affirming surgery.
Your body is your home, and I want to help you build safety, comfort and strength within it. Let’s explore the roots of your symptoms, optimize your pelvic health and celebrate your enjoyment of life.
When not at work, I’m nerding out on podcasts about hormones and sexual health, dancing, playing dress up, frolicking in nature and practicing yoga.
My philosophy
While the reason for seeking care is usually physical symptoms, looking at the tissues of your pelvic floor is not enough to make lasting changes to your health.
Your pelvic floor has layers and so do your symptoms. This is why I take a biopsychosocial approach.
What this means is that we need to explore and support
biological factors: skin irritation, muscle tension, shallow breathing
psychological factors: anxiety, trauma (e.x. birth, sexual, medical), fears and beliefs
As part of your care, I may suggest that you also see a mental health practitioner such as a trauma or sex therapist, to help you build more safety in your nervous system, which will help dial down your physical symptoms as well.
